Exactly my thoughts as well, but well i'm then still wondering .. they removed snowball acting like this flux was really needed, and i find it to be one of the most useless flux we ever had( plus, even if it would have made both formats joke, it might have been fun in fact, at least some originality in the game for once...)

Anyway, i'd think they will make it on next week; not so bad to have alliance battles active for 3 days

Makes sense to me the in-game festival to happen during/after the actual festivity, and not to end before it even starts...

Rollerbeetle racing is next weekend (starting on Thursday) and it won't be affected by the flux.

I don't think that next Thursday would have received much action if you'd started a pool. Surprising answer.

You used vacation days on GW? It would have made sense 5 or 6 years ago, but at this point it just seems like a waste, especially seeing as most people just AFK this particular festival. I can't even play the game for longer than a couple hours every two weeks without experiencing catatonic boredom.

At the risk of taking this off-topic...I also take vacation days around some of the in-game festivals as RL permits. Not everyone has been playing for 5-6 years or had so many events/missions/etc under their belt that it's become boring. (on the other hand, only been playing for 2 years )

And I *love* opening the fortunes ^_^ Spiritual Possession is *awesome*!!!!! I STILL get a kick out of poor Hai Len's quest for True Love...and Hapless Chong :P. Plus the chance for a sparkly dragon!

On topic...I am rather bummed that CNY won't be starting up this weekend though, was all psyched up for it

Well, considering RBR , snowball AT's or costume brawl are only lasting a few days per year and these are probably the most fun and least flawed formats in GW, that would be sad to be on vacations these days for me...
I'm not playing much anymore, but really there's nothing to do aside of farming in PvE and watching syncers in PvP..

I'm thinking that, even if CNY was going to be this weekend, the ArenaNet offices in Bellvue have probably been closed or at minimal staff for the week, given that Monday was a holiday, and Tuesday we got hit with a nasty snow & ice storm that's caused all sorts of havok.

yeah...but the weekend stuff is supposed to be all automated! (which means that more people have to take of it now than when it wasnt ).
will probably be the weekend after--I would guess something to do with that silly flux thing et.al....

If you look at it this way - the farmers have another week to get their items ready, and hopefully that means more districts hosted at the finales.

The current plan for the Live Team is to run the Canthan New Year festival in early February. I can't confirm the exact dates at this point due to the weather disruptions, but we'll update you as soon as we can.

Thank you for the information Stephane! I dont really understand how weather disruptions would effect a decision but thank you all the same for the information.

Wouldn't surprise me as the Superbowl is on the 5th.
